ATTACK THEATRE

Under the artistic direction of School of Music faculty members Peter Kope and Michele de la Reza, Attack Theatre has been making personal, accessible and collaborative dance-based performances with "ninja-like intensity" (Pittsburgh Tribune Review) since 1994. Attack Theatre combines modern dance, original live music, multimedia, and interdisciplinary art forms in performances in traditional and nontraditional spaces both nationally and internationally.

BREVARD MUSIC CENTER

One of the nation’s leading summer music festivals, the Brevard Music Center includes over 100 opera, chamber, and orchestra performances ranging from Baroque, classical, modern and pops. For over 80 seasons, the Brevard Music Center has welcomed some of the world's best musicians including Itzhak Perlman, Yo-Yo Ma, Joshua Bell, and many more. Orchestra concerts give audiences the opportunity to hear unforgettable performances of true musical masterpieces, and the many chamber music concerts present the opportunity to hear Brevard's world-renowned faculty perform in an intimate setting. For opera lovers, the Brevard Music Center's Janiec Opera Company presents three fully-staged operas and other operatic showcases each summer festival season.

Brevard Music Center also provides a congenial summer community for young musicians of exceptional gifts. Five hundred students enroll each year from nearly every state in the U.S. and around the world. All students and artist faculty live and work on the Music Center campus, 180 wooded acres in the beautiful mountains of western North Carolina.

Pittsburgh Festival Opera

Founded by acclaimed Metropolitan Opera mezzo-soprano and former member of the School of Music's voice faculty, Mildred Miller Posvar, Pittsburgh Festival Opera is noted for its ability to bring modern musical drama to today's audience. While meeting this element of professional performance offerings, Pittsburgh Festival Opera is also committed to supporting and training aspiring professional singers.

PITTSBURGH SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA

For over 100 years, the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra has been an essential element in the cultural landscape of Pittsburgh. Acclaimed as one of the world's great orchestras, the PSO boasts a rich history of housing some of the world's finest musicians and conductors. The school’s strong bond with the orchestra is illustrated by the 20 PSO members who choose to teach at Carnegie Mellon.

STEINWAY SOCIETY OF WESTERN PENNSYLVANIA

The Steinway Society of Western Pennsylvania follows the traditions established by the founders of the Steinway & Sons Piano Company, by providing a showcase for pianists and other musicians to meet and perform for the public and each other. The society is committed to providing performance opportunities for young pianists, a scholarship competition for collegiate pianists, and a performance series - held on CMU's campus - dedicated to regional and national artists.
