Returning guest conductor, Paul Polivnick, leads the Philharmonic for the second concert. Maestro Polivnick is a world-renowned conductor who has guest conducted the National Orchestra of Lille in France, the Symphony Silicon Valley in San Jose, the UNAM Orchestra in Mexico City, and many others.
The evening opens with John Adams’ The Chairman Dances: Foxtrot for Orchestra, from Adam’s political opera Nixon in China. Next, be transported with Stravinsky’s Violin Concerto in D Major with our very own School of Music graduate Lillian Lee, the 2017 undergraduate winner of the School of Music Concerto Competition . End your evening with the electrifying orchestral roar of Johannes Brahms’s Symphony #2 in D Major which captures the unfolding of a pastoral scene.
