Bio

With a career spanning four continents and over two decades, internationally acclaimed baryton-Martin, Daniel Teadt, has distinguished himself as a vocalist and voice teacher. A graduate of the University Of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana, Mr Teadt studied with John Wustman, The Dean of American Accompanists, and was awarded the Gunzalus Prize for Outstanding Vocalism. After graduating Mr Teadt completed apprenticeships with San Francisco Opera, Central City Opera, Opera Theatre of Saint Louis, Pittsburgh Opera, Steans Institute at the Ravinia Festival and L’Academie Festival d’Aix-en-provençe. Soon after he joined the roster of New York City Opera before embarking on an international stage and teaching career.

Equally adept as a recitalist Mr Teadt has premiered numerous programs by living composers as well as championed the great traditional works for baritone. Boyle’s Spirits In Bondage), New York Festival of Song, Aix-en-provençe Festival, Steans Institute at the Ravinia Festival, San Francisco Opera’s Schwabacher Debut Recital, Carnegie Mellon University Chamber Music Series (Mahler’s Rückert Lieder, Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen), Pittsburgh Camerata, Music In A Great Space Recital Series, St Vincent Camerata (Brahms Requiem), Pittsburgh Song Collaborative (Italienisches Liederbuch) Skidmore Art Song Recital Series (world premiere of Evan Mack’s If Only Lenny Were Here), Schubert On The Bluff Recital Series (Winterreise), Resonance Works (Dover Beach, Dichterliebe, Evidence of Things Not Seen, To Breathe Free), Riverside Symphonia (Elgar’s The Apostles), the Collaborative Arts Institute of Chicago (Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen, Tel jour telle nuit) and the Hugo Wolf Project (Spanisches Liederbuch).

Beyond his responsibilities as an Assistant Teaching Professor of Voice and a Lecturer on English & American Art Songs at Carnegie Mellon University, he previously held teaching positions at Washington and Jefferson College, Point Park University, Clarion University and Carnegie Mellon University’s Qatar Campus. Mr Teadt has led masterclasses for opera and musical theater vocalists with The Classical Singer International Convention, Arizona Opera Young Artist Program, National Teachers Of Singing Competition, Lincoln Park School for the Performing Arts, CAPA, Skidmore College, Beijing Central Conservatory of Music, Arizona State University, Opera Theater Summerfest, Ball State University, Westminster College, Trinity Cathedral Scholars, Palacio das Artes in Brazil, University Of Illinois, Pittsburgh Opera Young Artists, San Francisco Opera Adler Fellows as well as lectures and workshops for professional speakers with Toastmasters International, TEDx (having also been a previous TEDx speaker himself), Youngstown University and the Swartz Center for Entrepreneurship at the Tepper School Of Business. 

Mr Teadt records with EMI Classics (Billy Budd), Naxos Records (Songs of Experience, In This Blue Room) and Navona Records (The Complete Songs of Benjamin Boyle) and has been awarded prizes from the Sullivan Grant Foundation, George London Foundation, John Moriarty Prize, Palm Beach Opera Competition, MacAllister Voice Competition, Berkman Grant Foundation and the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions.
